Good Morning!

I woke up this morning to a happy smile. Mike slept from 10 to 2 a.m. That is progress. He is showered and back to bed for a bit. He plans to drive to the office today and spend an hour. We also are planning on getting our fountain up and running in the back yard. Having goals each day has helped us so much. We plan on having a great holiday week end. Mike put the flag out bright and early this morning in celebration of Memorial Day.

Thanks to our dog walker yesterday... She came at the perfect time. That seems to be happening so often. Coincidence?... I think not! We had a great visit with some dear friends who are heading off to Peru for 3 years to serve a mission for our church. It was so great visiting with them. We love them and wish them God speed.

We hope all of you will have a great week end.

  1. Dear Nancy and Mike,

I just happened to open an old Ensign from Jan. 2009 and read a great article called,"Putting My Hand in the Lord's". Two of the scripures quoted really stood out to me, "And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things." 1 Nephi 11:17

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in his own hands and prepared for you. And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. the kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours." D&C 78

I'm so glad that Mike is able to get out and enjoy his family, work, and projects around the house. Both of you are in my thoughts often.

  2. Nancy and Mike,
It is so good to come to the computer and read your posts. We're so glad today looks like a good and sunshiny Saturday. We're so glad also that Mike can drive to the office and do some of his usual Saturday stuff. The fountain in the back yard will also be another symbol of joy in your lives and trust in God. Your dad has planted all of the flowers in beds and is taking care of them this AM. Remember flowers are NOT his thing!! But I appreciate it so much. I'm trying to go ahead and do things and not "melt down". Your mother needs to be strong like you two are. I'm supposed to go to the little group this PM with some of the "older" teachers for Evelyn and I guess we will try to make it to church this evening. Keep on with the love and strength. We, as well as our friends, neighbors, etc. are lifting both of you up in prayers. I'm trying to stay strong. Much love, Your mom and dad,(aka:Jane & Bill).

  3. I'm celebrating that I'm in the office for a while this afternoon. I did get some sleep last night, showered, ate fruit (verses Ding Dongs) and have already taken 2 power naps today. I'm going to clean up my desk a bit, write some checks to pay some bills and head back home for another "power nap". I hope to work a couple hours a day beginning on Tuesday, but we're going to just see how things happen.

I am still full of faith and trust in my Heavenly father's plan. I pray that you might also be touched by this experience and understand that our faith is deep and we know Jesus Christ is the greatest healer. He will, however, work though you and many skilled medical personnel to accomplish this work.

We send our love and appreciation to all.

  5. E-mail is an interesting tool, sometimes you like it, sometimes you wish it would go away. I have thought of it in many ways (not always kindly), but not until today had I thought of it as a harbringer of hope.
I received an email today, just a copy of a routine email, the kind we all receive many times. Except this one was different.
I celebrated receiving this e-mail!! Why? Because it was from a good friend. Because it meant that he was doing well, amazingly well in such a short time!
My best wishes, Mike, for your continued speedy recovery and thanks to Nancy for keeping us all up to date.
