Good day...

We have had a very good day today. Mike has been up 3 times and even did a bit of physical therapy today. We are trying to wear him out a bit so he will sleep well tonight.

We are not accustomed to "baby steps" so this last week has been a bit of a struggle. We are making our way and figuring out a routine. If anyone wants to call Mike during the day, I will turn his phone on. Usually after 10 is a good time.

He needs to start communicating with folks again. He is getting bored with me...(Don't know why :) Thanks again to everyone for their extreme kindness and love. We are going to make it!

  1. Yes, you are going to make it!! We all should be using the "baby step" technique in our lives....slow down....move slowly....relax. Rest tonight and plan on good things to happen tomorrow.

    Hugs,
    Molly

  2. I agree you are going to make it...the road is just a bit rougher and more difficult at some turns, but you will find your way through each difficult turn. I am off the later part of next week and would love to come and help you out...just say the word and I am there. Nancy, can't stress enough to take care of yourself, don't forget to breath and laugh as often as you can during this difficult time.
    love and hugs to all,
    Barb

  3. I am so thrilled that you had a good day...you both just needed to establish a routine after all of those weeks in the hospital and to get some much needed help. Always remember to lean on the love and support of family and friends and your faith. We are ALWAYS here for you anytime!

    Love,
    Alice

  4. Mike & Nancy,
I'm glad to hear you are coping better & are getting some help. Alice made a good point. We are all here for you all the time, but mostly please rmember that neither of you are expected to be superhuman. There will be days when you cry, and there will be days when you laugh. Both are natural and very normal. We will be here to help you with both & the rest as well. Although this is obviously a serious event in your life, daily routines don't have to be.....put on a goofy hat to take Mike breakfast or do something that breaks the monotiny of this very serious time. Crack each other up....smiles on both of your faces can make a world of difference in how you deal with anything. Take care & please let us help if we can.
    Love,
    Cindy, Jeff & Chelsea

  5. Nancy & Mike:
Thank you for sharing your lives with us. I am reminded of this verse from Ecclesiastes 1:5--

The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.

What a blessing each new day is--a new beginning, a new viewpoint, a new sense of renewal.

    Love and prayers -
    Charlote and Dave
