After a long tiring day... I was helping Mike with a bath and then getting ready to put his blankets on for the night... I inadvertantly scratched the bottom of his left foot and his toes wiggled!! He was able to wiggle them several more times. I have noticed that he is feeling things in his left leg, usually pain, but feeling just the same. The edema from the blood clots is gone. Maybe things are going uphill for a change??

Thanks to whoever sent me flowers today and signed Mike's name. I know Mike would have sent them if he could :)

  1. You are such troopers, Nancy! Contiue celebrating each positive thing as you have been doing. Most of us wish that we could just crawl inside Mike's body and take on his pain or crawl inside you and be strong for you. God is giving you the strength you need...keep leaning on Him.
    Love you both.

    Hugs,
    Molly

  3. We continue to be so touched by the kindness of others. Mike and Nancy, you are giving us all so much as are your friends. I feel as Molly. In reality, you have the spirit that doesn't have to crawl inside and can come to stay.

    We love you.

  4. Nancy & Mike,
Your comment about Mike starting to feel pain in his left leg reminded me of the time after Dad had his strokes when he had a lot of the same sensations. He was never completely paralyzed, but he never got rid of that tingling sensation in the affected side. He took Motrin for years to thin the blood (to prevent additional strokes) & to help a bit with the pain. I had forgotten about this, but I'm pretty sure the dull ache was always there. So, hopefully he will get the feeling back, but what he feels might not be all together pleasant. On the other hand, one can get used to almost anythng from what I understand! Glad to hear he is home & benefitting from his family's loving care. There is a time and a place for hospital care, but right now it is great he can be at home. Take care & lots of positive energy coming your way.
    Love from you favorite cousin,
    Cindy

  8. Mike may be interested in knowing that both Rotary Clubs will be out here at Second Harvest Food Bank for a work project for United Way (Del Co) Day of Caring early Saturday morning! They are going to pack rice meals to help neighbors in need.

Mike, you first got to know Second Harvest through your work with United Way and I think you have been one of our strongest advocates since those early, early visits! You have made a huge difference for us - raised awareness and generated funding. And that difference has gone on to literally put food on the tables of people in our community who don't know where to turn. Your efforts are helping to bring together United Way, Second Harvest and Rotary this Saturday - and I know the fruits of your labors will continue to bless this community. keep those toes a-wiggling Mike. I am cheering for you!

PS looks like progress on the build-out!
