Mike slept most of yesterday. This morning he is awake, alert and a bit more talkative. We are both calm and peaceful. I feel a tremendous load taken off my shoulders with the help of the hospice team. They are truly amazing. I think Mike and I both feel safer now. Thanks to all of you for your delightful comments on the previous post. I have read each of them to Mike. I told him I was so grateful that he has been so nice to people throughout his life so we could have some friends! This would be a lonely time without all of you...

I think of you both often and you are always in my prayers. I will never forget the good and challenging times we all encountered on good old North Street. You have both always been a tremendous support for my family and for that we are all grateful. Please let me know if I could be helpful at any time.

    Love, Sarah (next door!!)

  4. So much love, many prayers and an outpouring of support is being sent your way during this difficult time...what a blessing this is. It is certainly heartwarming for us as Mike's family to see the many lives he has touched for good and how much he is loved. We are so grateful to have you in our family eternally. Your faith is strong and we will all continue to trust in God's plan.

    Love Always,

  6. How fortunate I was to be asked to go to Career Day at Delta High School in the spring of 1972 to talk about architecture with interested seniors. The peace of Christ be with you.

  12. Nancy I hear your characteristic humor shining through! The reality is that it isn't JUST Mike that's been so nice to people. You don't stand a chance of standing alone for all the people you've loved.Karen

  15. Nancy and Mike,
I can't begin to tell you how many times we think of you during the day. I was talking to my sister in St. Louis this morning and she asked how you all were doing and said that she is praying along with her many friends throughout their church and her community. We wish you a day of peace, comfort and sunshine:)
With lots of love and hugs (and a kiss from Rudy) Mike and Sue

  17. Dear Mike and Nancy,
I hope Brigham Young won't mind if I use this paraphrase, but I feel to shout hallelujah every time I think that I have the privilege to know Mike and Nancy Ellis. You are two of the best people anyone could hope to know, and Randy and I have been lucky enough to know you since childhood. We are far, far better people because we know you. Among the many things you have taught us is that joyful living and righteous living are one and the same. Thanks for being you.
    Love,
    Randy and Sandra
