The day has been so very difficult for Mike. He is experiencing pain again today. We are trying to relieve the pain...It gets ahead of us so quickly. Please pray that Mike can be released from this condition soon. His suffering is almost more than we can stand. He has such a strong will...We have sat in his room today, comforted him and listened to music. The music brings peace to our souls. We are so anxious for the miracle of Mike moving into the next life to occur. We know there he can work and serve and join those who are looking forward to seeing him again. He is ready to start running again...

  5. Our hearts are breaking for all of you. I agree that there is a wonderful homecoming awaiting Mike. He is a great man and has left a tremendous legacy. We've all benefited from his love and compassion for others. Remember the time he arranged for us to met Lucille Johnson because he knew how much we admired her and would love it? We are all better for knowing Mike and I know he will continue to influence and watch over us. We'll miss his big smile, friendly greeting and laugh, but we'll never forget him. Wonderful husband and father, true friend and valiant servant to the Lord and to his community. God Bless You!
    All our Love and Prayers,

  7. Dear Nancy,
How beautifully you have expressed yourself in this latest post. Thank you for letting us know how to focus our prayers. I read this scripture this morning and thought of Mike. "...the faithful elders of this dispensation, when they depart from mortal life, continue their labors in the preaching of the gospel....in the great world of the spirits of the dead." Doctrine and Covenants 138:57. Mike will be working and serving again and will have a glorious reunion with his father.
We love you and unite our prayers with yours.

  9. Mark and I sat in Mike's office one day a few years ago. He asked about our family. The topic of fishing came up. His bottom lip came out a bit, his brow wrinkled a bit and he said, "I just never really liked fishing. I didn't like to see the hook in the little fish's mouth." We both knew at that moment that Mike was a man with very tender feelings of compassion. It was his gift to be able to feel pain for creatures and the people around him. Ironic that now he lingers with tremendous pain of his own. His pain and that which your family is experience is being felt by all those who knew him and you. One of our memories of him will be his tremendous love he had for his fellow man. Our prayers will unite with all other prayers going heavenward today. May the Comforter be your constant friend.
    Love to all,
    Mark and Karen

  10. You are so brave. We will pray as you desire. We have been praying for your peace and comfort, and for the Lord's will to be done. We, too, have experienced the amazing miracle of the relationship with a loved one on the other side, and share with you that is it sacred and wonderful.

God bless you - all of you - and may he give Mike the sweet blessing that "those that die in me shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them." (D&C 42: 46) Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us. I don't think I could have done it. It has been a blessing for everyone involved.

    Love and Prayers,
    Mike and Carol Baker
